Lincomycin is a lincosamide antibiotic produced by Streptomyces lincomycin, which mainly inhibits protein synthesis in bacterial cells by binding to the central loop of the 23S rRNA gene of the bacterial ribosome 50S subunit, preventing the elongation of the peptide chain. This mechanism of action enables lincomycin to have significant antibacterial effects against various Gram positive bacteria.
