Itraconazole, an organic compound with chemical formula C35H38Cl2N8O4, is a highly effective broad-spectrum antifungal drug of triazole, which can bind fungal cytochrome P450 isoenzyme to inhibit ergosterol synthesis. Itraconazole is effective against dermatophyton, Candida, Cryptococcus neoformans, Pityrosporum, Aspergillus, Histoplasmosis, Paracoccidioides brasiliensis, Sporothrix Schenckii, Pigmentomyces, cladosporium and Blastomyces dermatitis.
Application&Function

Pharmacology and application
It is a polyene antibiotic, which can inhibit and kill fungi by selectively binding with ergosterol of fungal cell membrane, damaging membrane permeability and causing important substances in the cell to leak out. It is a broad spectrum antifungal drug. Because the cell membrane of bacteria does not contain sterols, this product is not effective against bacteria. It is suitable for the treatment of systemic deep fungal infection.
By interfering the activity of cytochrome P450, this strain inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, the main component of fungal cell membrane, thereby damaging the fungal cell membrane and changing its permeability, resulting in the leakage of important substances in the cell and causing fungal death.
This product has antibacterial activity against Blastomyces dermatitis, histoplasma capsulatus, Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus aflatus, candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans in vitro. The antibacterial activity against Sporotrichophyton Schenckii, Trichophyton trichophyton, Candida karensis and other non-candida albicans was different. This product can inhibit the infection of Blastomyces dermatitis, histoplasmosis Duchenne, Aspergillus fumigatus, coccidioides macrocosa, Cryptococcus neoformans, Paracoccidioides brasiliensis, Sporotrichophyton Schenck and Trichophyton trichophyton in experimental animals. The metabolite hydroxyitraconazole has certain antifungal activity, but its effect on histoplasmosis and Blastomyces dermatitis is lacking.
