Inhibition of cyclooxygenase activity: Ibuprofen exerts its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenase (COX). COX is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid (AA) to prostaglandin H2 (PGH2). Ibuprofen mainly inhibits COX-1 and COX-2, reduces prostaglandin synthesis, and thus alleviates inflammation and pain sensation.
Effects on prostaglandin synthesis: Prostaglandins are a type of pro-inflammatory cytokine, and reduced synthesis can reduce local vascular permeability and inflammatory cell infiltration, thereby alleviating tissue inflammation.
pathology
Anti inflammatory effect: Ibuprofen reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins, lowers local vascular permeability and leukocyte infiltration, thereby inhibiting inflammatory reactions and alleviating tissue swelling and redness.
Analgesic effect: Ibuprofen alleviates pain sensation by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators and activation of neurons, reducing pain signal transduction.
Antipyretic effect: Ibuprofen reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins in the hypothalamus by affecting the hypothalamic thermoregulatory center, thereby lowering body temperature.
