Elastin is the main component of elastic fibers in raw skin tissue. The peptide chain of elastin contains 713 or more amino acid residues. Unlike collagen and keratin, elastin's amino acid sequence does not have continuous repetitive periodic structures that run through the entire peptide chain, but instead has alternating hydrophobic and hydrophilic segments. Chains and open chain chains formed from oxidized lysine are unique cross-linking structures of elastin. These cross-linked structural grids are combined with two or more team dimensions. [2]
A major hard protein in the elastic tissue of connective tissue, especially tendons and arteries. It is a water-insoluble, highly cross-linked hydrolyzed protein. Non polar amino acids account for 95% of elastin molecules, glycine content is close to one-third of the total, proline accounts for 10%, and hydroxyproline accounts for 1%.
