Furazolidone is an artificially synthesized nitrofuran antibiotic, with the chemical name 3- (5-nitrofurfural imino) -2-oxazolidinone. The appearance is a yellow crystalline powder, slightly soluble in water, and easily soluble in organic solvents such as dimethylformamide. This drug has a broad-spectrum antibacterial effect and has significant inhibitory effects on Gram positive bacteria, Gram negative bacteria, and some protozoa. Due to its unique antibacterial mechanism (interfering with the bacterial oxidoreductase system), it has been widely used in the treatment of intestinal infections, bacterial dysentery, and veterinary fields.
