Niacinamide, also known as nicotinamide, is an amide compound of niacin. It is a white crystalline powder; Odorless or almost odorless, with a bitter taste; Slightly hygroscopic. Easy to dissolve in water or ethanol, soluble in glycerol. Clinically, it is mainly used for the prevention and treatment of pellagra, stomatitis, glossitis, sick sinus syndrome, atrioventricular block and other problems.

Application&Function

Niacinamide is a component of coenzyme I and coenzyme II, and serves as a coenzyme for many dehydrogenases. When lacking, it can affect the normal respiration and metabolism of cells and cause pellagra. Nicotinamide is easily absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and distributed throughout the body. It is metabolized by the liver and only a small amount is excreted in its original form in urine. The gastrointestinal tract is easily absorbed and distributed to tissues throughout the body after absorption, with a half-life (t1/2) of approximately 45 minutes. Metabolized by the liver, the therapeutic dose is only excreted in its original form through urine.
