Due to the inability to obtain stable acyl chlorides from the side chain donor p-hydroxyphenylglycine, the Danish anhydride method is currently the main production method for amoxicillin side chains. p-hydroxyphenylglycine is mixed with methyl acetoacetate to prepare p-hydroxyphenylglycine potassium salt, which is then mixed with  prepare a mixed anhydride. Amoxicillin is obtained by condensation, hydrolysis, crystallization and other processes of mixed anhydride and 6-PAP.

Application&Function

Amoxicillin and amoxicillin clavulanic acid can be used to treat bacterial sinusitis and other respiratory infections. Most sinusitis infections are caused by viruses, and amoxicillin and amoxicillin clavulanate are ineffective against viruses, and the small benefits of amoxicillin may be offset by its adverse reactions [6]. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence recommends amoxicillin as the first-line treatment for community-acquired pneumonia in adults, which can be used alone (for mild to moderate conditions) or in combination with macrolides. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends using amoxicillin as a first-line treatment for non severe pneumonia [7]. Amoxicillin can be used for inhalation therapy after exposure to anthrax to prevent worsening of the condition and take preventive measures
