Tartrate guitarimycin belongs to the 16 membered macrocyclic lactone class of antibiotics and exerts antibacterial effects through the following ways:
Inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis: binds to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, blocking peptide chain elongation.

Guitarimycin tartrate is a macrolide antibiotic, also known as guitarimycin tartrate or tartaric acid crystal white mold.
