carbomer, also known as carbomer, is an acrylic cross-linked resin obtained by cross-linking ,other substances with. It is a very important rheology modifier. After neutralization, carbomer is an excellent gel matrix with important applications such as thickening and suspension. It has a simple process and good stability, and is widely used in emulsions, creams, and gels.
Application&Function

Purpose
Carbomer copolymers can be used as excipients, such as bio-adhesives, emulsifiers, release modifiers, suspensions, tablet adhesives, and tackifiers, etc. Pharmaceutical excipients or pharmaceutical auxiliaries refer to other chemical substances used in the pharmaceutical process apart from the drug components. Pharmaceutical excipients generally refer to the inactive components in drug preparations, which can enhance the stability, solubility and processability of drug preparations. Pharmaceutical excipients also affect the absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination (ADME) processes of co-administered drugs.
Physical and chemical properties
Low-molecular-weight poly is a colorless and transparent solid. Its 20% to 30% aqueous solution is a pale yellow or colorless viscous liquid. Molecular weight: 500-5000, pH value: 2-4. Its dissociation constant is approximately around 5×10-5, similar to that of acetic acid (1.8×10-5), and much larger than the first dissociation constant of carbonic acid. Therefore, poly is a weak acid stronger than carbonic acid. It is generally stable to strong acids, strong bases and oxidants. However, under high temperature or long-term light exposure, low-molecular-weight poly will still repolymerize, causing its molecular weight to continue to increase and its viscosity to rise accordingly. Eventually, it becomes a solid in a gel-like state and precipitates from the aqueous solution. It is both a chelating agent and a lattice distorting agent, capable of forming stable complexes with metal ions in water such as calcium and magnesium. It also has excellent dispersion performance and can disperse amorphous particles such as crystalline compounds, soil, dust, corrosive sub stances and biological debris in water.
