Sulfadiazine is the drug with the lowest plasma protein binding rate and the highest blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier permeability among sulfonamide drugs, and it has outstanding therapeutic effects on the prevention and treatment of epidemic meningitis. However, due to the low solubility of sulfadiazine in urine, crystalline urine is prone to occur, and thus it is not suitable for the treatment of urinary tract infections. Sulfadiazine has a broad antibacterial spectrum and is antibacterial against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. In addition, sulfadiazine also has certain effects on microorganisms such as chlamydia, actinomycetes and Plasmodium.
