Terbinafine, an allylamine antifungal drug, inhibits squalene cyclooxygenase during the ergosterol synthesis process in fungal cells and causes squalene to accumulate in the cells, thereby exerting a bactericidal effect. The sensitivity of human cells to terbinafine is one ten-thousandth that of fungi. Terbinafine has a broad-spectrum antifungal effect. It has a bactericidal effect on skin fungi and an inhibitory effect on Candida albicans. It is applicable to skin and nail infections caused by superficial fungi, such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, onychomycosis and skin Candida albicans infections caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Microsporum Canis, Epidermophyton floccosum, etc.
Application&Function
Purpose
Allylamine antifungal drugs have a broader antibacterial spectrum and higher antifungal activity than naproxen. It can selectively inhibit the squalene cyclooxygenase of fungi, blocking the squalene epoxidation reaction during the formation of fungal cell membranes, thereby destroying the generation of fungal cell membranes and achieving the effect of killing or inhibiting fungi. It is safe, has low toxicity, few side effects, good oral and topical tolerance, and no teratogenicity or embryotoxicity. It is clinically used for various skin fungal infections (tinea pedis, tinea cruris and tinea corporis) and nail fungal infections.
Terbinafine (TDT 067) is an orally effective antifungal agent. Terbinafine is an effective non-competitive inhibitor of Candida's squalene cyclooxygenase, with a Ki of 30 nM. Terbinafine also has antibacterial activity against certain Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Terbinafine (TDT 067) is an antifungal drug for the treatment of fungal infections. It is an effective non-competitive inhibitor of squalene cyclooxygenase from the genus Candida, with a Ki value of 30 nM.
