Kanamycin, a protein biosynthesis inhibitor, causes mRNA code misreading by binding to 30S ribosomes. If bacteria produce an enzyme that destroys kanamycin, they can become resistant strains. Kanamycin resistant plasmids are often used as selective genes or marker genes in molecular cloning.
It can be used orally and intravenously, is effective against a variety of bacterial infections, and is isolated from Streptomyces kanamyceticus.

Application&Function

Bacterial Infections Kanamycin Powder Raw Material Kanamycin

Function and use
It has strong antibacterial effect on gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pneumobacter, Proteus, Pasteurella, etc. It is also effective on Staphylococcus aureus, tuberculosis bacillus and mycoplasma. However, it is not effective against pseudomonas aeruginosa, anaerobic bacteria, and other gram-positive bacteria except Staphylococcus aureus. It is mainly used for respiratory tract and urinary tract infection, septicemia and mastitis caused by most gram-negative bacteria and some drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It is used internally for intestinal infections such as chicken dysentery, typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, poultry cholera, livestock colibacillosis, etc. It is also used for chronic respiratory tract disease of chicken, panting disease of pig and atrophic rhinitis. It also has some effect on turtle red neck disease and famous and excellent aquatic products disease.

pharmacokinetics
The product is quickly absorbed after intramuscular injection, and a certain amount of the drug can also be absorbed from the body surface after local rinsing or local application. It is mainly distributed in the extracellular fluid, and the concentration in the cerebrospinal fluid of normal infants can reach 10-20% of the blood concentration at the same time, and when there is inflammation in the meninges, it can reach 50% of the blood concentration at the same time. 5 to 15% of the drug amount is redistributed to various tissues and can accumulate in the renal cortical cells and cross the placenta. Synovial fluid was more than 50% of blood concentration, and the concentration was low in bronchial secretions, bile and aqueous humor. The accumulation of drugs in pleural fluid is slow, but it can gradually reach a concentration similar to that in blood. The distribution volume is 0.26L/kg. After intramuscular injection, the blood concentration reached its peak in 1-2 hours, and the bile concentration reached its peak in about 6 hours after intramuscular injection.

Glomerular filtration metabolizes the drug

The mean peak blood concentration was 22μg/ml after a single dose of 7.5mg/kg, which may be lower in patients with fever or severe burns. Urine concentration is 10-20 times of blood concentration. T1/2 adults for 2 ~ 4 hours, kidney damage 27 ~ 80 hours; Premature infants are 18 hours, and full-term newborns are generally 6 to 8.6 hours (inversely proportional to birth weight and age). The product is not metabolized in the body, mainly through glomerular filtration, about 50% excreted within 4 hours after administration, the concentration in urine can be as high as 800μg/ml, and about 80-90% excreted within 24 hours; The amount of excretion in bile is about 1%. A small amount can also be excreted in the milk, and a considerable amount of the drug can be removed from the blood by blood and peritoneal dialysis, thus greatly shortening the half-life of the drug.
