Clotrimazole is an organic compound with the chemical formula C22H17ClN2. It is a broad-spectrum antifungal drug that has good antibacterial effects on various fungi, especially Candida albicans. Application&Function

Clotrimazole belongs to the pyrrole class of broad-spectrum antifungal drugs. It has a significant inhibitory effect on Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton gypsum like fungus, Cryptococcus neoformans, Aspergillus, Algae, Candida albicans, etc. This product inhibits the biosynthesis of fungal sterols such as ergosterol by interfering with the activity of cytochrome P-450, damaging the fungal cell membrane and altering its permeability, resulting in the leakage of important intracellular substances; It can inhibit the biosynthesis of triglycerides and phospholipids in fungi, as well as the activity of oxidases and peroxidases, leading to the accumulation  in cells and causing cellular microstructural degeneration and necrosis. It can inhibit the transformation of Candida albicans spores into invasive hyphae.
