α -arbutin is a differential isomer of arbutin. In recent years, it has been found that it has a stronger inhibitory effect on tyrosinase than arbutin, which can prevent the generation of melanin, thereby reducing skin pigment deposition, removing pigmentation and freckles. Moreover, it does not cause toxic, irritating or sensitization side effects on melanocytes. At the same time, it also has bactericidal and anti-inflammatory effects.
