Polyoxin B is a broad-spectrum antibiotic fungicide with systemic transmission properties.
Polyoxin B mainly exerts its antibacterial effect by interfering with the biosynthesis of polysaccharides in the cell wall shell. Specifically, it can affect fungi that use chitosan as a substrate to form cell walls, such as some fungi in the Ascomycota, Basidiomycota, and Hemimycota classes. When the buds and mycelium of these fungi come into contact with Polyoxin B, local swelling and rupture occur, leading to the overflow of intracellular contents and ultimately causing fungal death.
