Toltrazuril is a coccidiostat similar in action to amprolium.
Toltrazuril is commonly formulated in combination with emodepside (Procox) for use as an
oral suspension against intestinal roundworms and protozoa
Toltrazuril has proven efficacy against Eimeria spp and Cystoisospora spp
Although it has a wide range of antiparasitic efficacy, it does not appear effective against
Hepatozoon canis, even when used with imidocarb dipropionate.
Application&Function
Toltrazuril is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic for humans and animals. It works by interfering with proteins in either the worm's intestine or absorptive cells. This leads to the worm not being able to absorb sugar (glucose), which are essential for its survival. Therefore the energy stores of the worm are depleted, and this leads to its eventual death within several days.
Antiprotozoal drugs. Totrazuril was clinically applied to bloody stool, meat ,tomatoes kinds of feces and coccidial inapparent infection. It can prevent coccidiosis effectively, and make the coccidian oocyst totally disappear, and it doesn'taffect the growth of chicks as well as produce coccidium immunity.
