Cefradine is cefradine, a semi synthetic broad-spectrum cephalosporin that belongs to the first generation of cephalosporin antibiotics.
The chemical name of cefradine is (6R, 7R) -7-[ ®- 2-amino-2- (1,4-cyclohexadienyl) acetylamino] -3-methyl-8-oxo-5-thio-1-azabicyclo [4.2.0] octan-2-carboxylic acid, also known as Cefradine in English. It is a white crystalline powder with antibacterial properties, mainly used to treat infections caused by sensitive bacteria. Cefradine can be administered orally or by injection, and its injectable formulation is usually a sterile powder injection mixed with sodium. The drug is not as effective against Gram negative bacteria as second-generation and third-generation cephalosporins, but its antibacterial spectrum and use are similar to cefaclor. Pregnant women should be cautious when using it.

Application&Function

Cefradine belongs to the first generation of cephalosporins and entered the pharmaceutical market in the 1970s. It is stable to stomach acid, and its antibacterial effect is similar to that of ceftriaxone when administered orally and ceftriaxone when administered by injection. It has a killing effect on most Gram positive and negative bacteria, and has good antibacterial effects on Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Streptococcus pyogenes that do not produce penicillinase and produce penicillinase. Its activity is slightly lower against Escherichia coli, Proteus and Klebsiella, and has a certain effect on Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It also has activity against enzyme producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and has poor activity against Haemophilus influenzae. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, drug-resistant Escherichia coli, Bacteroides fragilis, Mycoplasma and Chlamydia are resistant to it, while other anaerobic bacteria are sensitive to it.
