Calcium lactate is an organic compound with the molecular formula C6H10CaO6. It is commonly used as a calcium supplement and has the functions of promoting the calcification formation of bones and teeth, maintaining the normal excitability of nerves and muscles, and reducing the permeability of capillaries. Due to its low solubility, it is generally administered orally only.

Application&Function

Production method
Rice is gelatinized under high pressure, diluted with water and cooled to 50-53℃. Then, Aspergillus Niger and Lactobacillus defolius are introduced for fermentation to obtain the metabolic product lactic acid. Calcium phosphate is added to neutralize it to obtain crude calcium lactate. Finally, it is refined or the dilute lactic acid solution is neutralized with calcium carbonate and the solution is evaporated to obtain the final product. The refining process utilizes the reaction between magnesium chloride and calcium hydroxide to produce magnesium hydroxide, which has the property of coagulation. It causes some impurities and proteins in the fermentation broth to coagulate and be removed. Then, through vacuum concentration, crystallization and refinement, calcium lactate is obtained.

Purpose
Calcium lactate is used in the beverage industry as a calcium source for fortified fruit juices. Calcium lactate promotes the growth of bean sprouts and the degradation of phytic acid.
