Antifungal drugs
Voriconazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal drug, belonging to the second-generation triazole antifungal compounds.
Voriconazole can effectively resist certain conditions of filamentous fungi, bimodal fungi (molds), and yeast, and is used to treat severe infections caused by these fungi. Voriconazole mainly exerts antibacterial effects by inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol on fungal cell membranes. Specifically, it can inhibit the activity of lanosterol 14 α - demethylase and 24 methylenedihydrolanosterol demethylase in fungal cells, leading to membrane defects and leakage of important cellular components, resulting in cell death.

Application&Function

Mainly used to treat progressive and potentially life-threatening infections in immunocompromised patients.
Severe fungal infections, such as acute invasive aspergillosis (most commonly caused by Aspergillus fumigatus, followed by Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, and Aspergillus terreus), can be treated in immunocompromised patients.
Severe invasive infections caused by fluconazole resistant Candida albicans (including Candida krusei).
Severe infections caused by the genera Actinobacteria and Fusarium.
It can also treat severe infections caused by actinomycetes and Fusarium, invasive aspergillosis, esophageal candidiasis, etc. It also has therapeutic effects on various fungal infections such as Alternaria and Aspergillus.
