Trichloronazole is a benzimidazole antiparasitic drug with the chemical name 5-Chloro-6- (2,3-dichlorophenoxy) -2-methylthio-1H-benzimidazole. The compound is a white or off white crystalline powder, slightly soluble in water, and easily soluble in organic solvents such as DMSO. Its molecular weight is 359.66 g/mol. Trichloronazole mainly exerts its effects by inhibiting parasite microtubule protein synthesis and energy metabolism, and is an efficient drug for treating fluke infections, especially widely used in veterinary medicine and human anti parasitic fields.
Application&Function

Trichloronazole is mainly used to prevent and treat parasitic diseases caused by Fasciola hepatitica and Fasciola gigantica, such as Fascioliasis in cattle and sheep. Its mechanism of action is to selectively inhibit the aggregation of β - tubulin in parasites, interfere with their glucose uptake and energy metabolism, and lead to parasite death. This medicine is effective for both adults and larvae, with high efficiency and low toxicity, and has also been used for the treatment of human liver fluke disease. In addition, trichlorobenzothiazole has certain applications in agriculture and aquaculture, which can effectively control the spread of parasites.
