Vilazone hydrochloride is an orally administered selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and partial 5-HT1A receptor agonist with antidepressant effects, used in research on depression and mood disorders.

Treatment of adult severe depression
On January 21, 2011, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of Viibryd hydrochloride tablets for the treatment of adult major depression (MDD).
