D-mannose (CAS 3458-28-4) is a natural monosaccharide with the chemical formula C6H12O6. It is a stereoisomer of hexose and is widely found in plants such as cranberry and apple. Its sweetness is approximately 50% of that of sucrose, but its metabolic pathway is different from that of glucose. It is mainly excreted directly through urine, thus having a minimal impact on blood sugar. Medical-grade D-mannose should comply with the USP/EP standard, with a purity of ≥98%, and impurities such as glucose should be strictly controlled. Food-grade products must comply with FCC regulations and be suitable for low-GI foods and health ingredients.

Application&Function

Urinary health
By competitively binding to the FimH adhesin of urethral pathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC), it prevents bacteria from adhering to the bladder wall, assisting in the prevention and remission of urinary tract infections (UTIs). Clinical studies have shown that a daily dose of 2g is effective (PMID: 26300315).

Intestinal regulation
As a prebiotic, it promotes the proliferation of Bifidobacteria and improves the balance of intestinal flora (Food Chem, 2021).

Immune support
Participate in glycoprotein synthesis and regulate macrophage function (J Immunol Res, 2019).
